THE BRITON BOARD IN SPECIAL EDUCATION SPEECH AND ITS SUPPORTING SCIENCES PROGRAMS
Our program begins with a thorough assessment to identify each student’s unique strengths, challenges, and communication goals. We utilize a variety of standardized tests, informal observations, and interviews with caregivers to gather comprehensive information about the student’s communication abilities.
Based on the assessment results, our licensed speech-language pathologists develop personalized intervention plans tailored to the specific needs of each student. We utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to address a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation disorders, fluency disorders, and pragmatic language difficulties.
Our treatment sessions focus on targeting specific communication goals identified during the assessment process. We employ a variety of strategies and activities to improve speech production, language comprehension, expressive language skills, and social communication abilities.
We believe in the importance of collaboration between speech-language pathologists, educators, families, and other professionals involved in the student’s care. Our program emphasizes open communication, shared decision-making, and collaboration to ensure consistency and continuity of support across environments.
Throughout the course of therapy, we regularly monitor the student’s progress and adjust the intervention plan as needed to ensure continued growth and success. We provide ongoing feedback to caregivers and collaborate with them to reinforce therapy techniques and strategies at home.
As students progress through the program, we provide transition support to help them successfully transition to new environments, such as mainstream classrooms or post-secondary education settings. We work closely with educators and other professionals to ensure a smooth transition and continued success.
