THE BRITON BOARD IN SPECIAL EDUCATION SPEECH AND ITS SUPPORTING SCIENCES PROGRAMS
Our Speech-Language Therapy Program at The Briton Board in Special Education Speech and its Supporting Sciences is dedicated to supporting individuals with communication disorders, speech delays, and language difficulties. Led by licensed speech-language pathologists, our program utilizes evidence-based practices to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of speech and language disorders, including articulation disorders, fluency disorders, and pragmatic language difficulties.
We begin with a thorough assessment to evaluate each student’s communication abilities, strengths, and challenges. Our assessments may include standardized tests, clinical observations, and interviews with caregivers to gather valuable information about the student’s speech and language skills.
Based on the assessment results, our licensed speech-language pathologists develop personalized intervention plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each student. We utilize evidence-based strategies and therapeutic techniques to address speech sound production, language comprehension, expressive language skills, fluency, and social communication.
Our therapy sessions are designed to target specific areas of difficulty identified during the assessment process. We provide targeted intervention to improve articulation, phonological awareness, vocabulary development, grammar skills, pragmatic language abilities, and other aspects of communication.
We incorporate a variety of modalities and techniques into our therapy sessions to engage students and enhance learning. This may include using visual supports, auditory cues, tactile activities, technology-based interventions, and interactive games to address communication goals.
We believe in the importance of collaboration between speech-language pathologists, educators, families, and other professionals involved in the student’s care. Our program emphasizes open communication, shared goal-setting, and collaboration to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to therapy.
Throughout the course of therapy, we continuously monitor the student’s progress and adjust the intervention plan as needed to address emerging needs and promote continued growth and development. We provide ongoing feedback to caregivers and collaborate with them to reinforce therapy techniques and strategies at home.
